Distilling & Blending

Branson embodies the history and knowledge with classic production techniques to produce artisanal Cognacs.

The methods used in the vineyards have one singular goal and focus – harvest the best quality and purest Ugni Blanc. Once all the grapes are hand-picked, the grapes are pressed and fermented in vats. The wine is then distilled on the lees that results in elegant and fragrant aromas.

Distillation is done in traditional pot stills some being many decades old. As the wine is heated, the alcohol evaporates and rises through the neck of the still and is then cooled to a liquid. This liquid is distilled again to purify it, which at that time becomes an Eaux-de-Vie.

Branson Cognacs are aged in French Oak barrels, sourced from Alliers, Limousin and Tronçais. With a mix of young and old barrels, Branson is able to give each Cognac their ideal golden brown color and allow the liquid to mature and evolve. The final step in the maturation is in the oldest oak barrels that allow the Cognac to evaporate, thus creating the angel’s share.
